Career History

Angela specialised in corporate law from the outset of her career by training at the corporate law firm Dickson Minto in Edinburgh and London. This was followed by two years as a corporate assistant with McClure Naismith and four years latterly as a corporate associate at Maclay Murray Spens, both in Glasgow. Angela’s experience covered the whole gamut of corporate law but with particular emphasis on private equity and venture capital M&A work, including acting for 3i Group PLC.

Role at Clyde Blowers

While in private practice, Angela was involved in the Clyde Blowers’ sale of its power companies to Sawmill Capital in 2001 after which she was offered the role of Group Solicitor at Clyde Blowers. Angela’s emphasis for the first five years at Clyde Blowers was on deal work including the sale of CleanCut to Mi-Swaco; the reverse takeover by InterBulk of InBulk and purchase of UTT; the reverse takeover by Clyde Process Solutions of Clyde Materials Handling; and various acquisitions within the Clyde Bergemann Power Group.

Since joining Clyde Blowers in 2001, Angela’s role has also encompassed that of the traditional in-house lawyer and this has become her focus in recent years. Angela advises Clyde Blowers’ portfolio companies on litigation strategy; undertakes high value customer and supplier contract reviews; drafts and negotiates other commercial agreements including intellectual property licences and joint venture agreements; manages pension schemes; instructs insurance programmes; prepares and presents legal reports to the board.

Qualifications

Angela holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Glasgow and is a notary public.
