Career History

After graduation, Chen Zhong joined one of the largest Chinese state-owned Iron & Steel groups taking up the roles of Mechanical Engineer and Workshop Director. Between 1994 and 1995, he worked for a Scottish thermal power engineering company in Glasgow as Project Engineer and Project Coordinator for projects in China.

Role at Clyde Blowers

He has worked for Clyde Blowers since 1995 gaining rich experience in business development for the Clyde Blowers portfolio companies. He has helped Clyde Blowers to establish several successful JVs including Shanghai Clyde Bergemann Machinery Co. Ltd with Shanghai Electrics in 1996, Clyde Bergemann Huatong Materials Handling Company Limited with China Power Engineering Consulting Group Corporation in 1998 and WFOEs such as Clyde Materials Handling –Technology Beijing Co. Ltd in 2004.

He has established sales networks all over China and has good relationships within sectors such as power, railway and iron & steel. He has both a strong knowledge of and contacts in many traditional industries in China, especially in energy (conventional, hydro and nuclear) and in wind and solar power.

He has been involved in the establishment of Clyde Blowers’ Chinese enterprises and provided valuable input on their strategy and development. He was the General Manager of Clyde Bergemann China from 2003 to 2008. With the establishment of Beijing Representative Office and the development of CBC, he is primarily working on business development for the Maag Group and David Brown Gear Systems – establishing Shinri David Brown and its subsequent acquisition of CGSR.

Qualifications

He holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dalian Communication University and also attended the Advanced Management Program organised by China Europe International Business School and was the Class Leader (2005–2006).
