Career History

George qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor with Ernst & Young in 1993. He subsequently moved to KPMG where he spent 14 years before joining Clyde Blowers Capital. At KPMG George specialised in corporate tax, working mainly with large private companies and listed companies head quartered in Scotland. He also spent some time at KPMG’s London office working in a team developing tax solutions, which were then rolled out across the UK tax practice.

In his last seven years at KPMG George moved into a dedicated M&A role and during this period assumed responsibility for delivery of M&A tax projects across the central belt of Scotland. George worked with corporates, banks and private equity houses on acquisitions, disposals, refinancings, IPOs and structuring of joint ventures. He has extensive experience of working on and leading cross border M&A projects.

Role at Clyde Blowers

Prior to joining CBC George was a senior manager at KPMG specialising in M&A tax. George led the provision of tax structuring advice to Clyde Blowers on the acquisition of Weir Pumps, UTI (for Interbulk Group plc) and the CBC’s acquisition of Textron’s Fluid and Power Business Unit.

George joined CBC in 2010 as Tax Director with responsibility for tax reporting, structuring of CBC’s funds and to provide strategic support to CBC’s portfolio businesses.

Qualifications

George has a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) degree from University of Stirling and is a member of the Institute of Taxation.
