As a leading mid-market investor, CBC only targets companies with a view to sustainably growing revenues and growing profits through medium to long-term investment rather than taking short term measures. CBC primarily invests in companies with a £25–75m equity requirement.

CBC's portfolio of realised and unrealised investments made to prior to CBC Fund II (collectively called Fund I), at 30 June 2011, has generated a 3.8x gross multiple of cost and an IRR of 48%. In the 31 months from the acquisition of the CBC Fund II assets to June 2011 these unrealised investments generated a 2.1x gross multiple of cost.
