Career History

Shauna Powell trained as a solicitor with Maclay Murray & Spens (“Maclays”) in Glasgow. On qualifying she specialised in corporate law and in particular private equity and venture capital M&A work. During this time Shauna worked with Clyde Blowers on various matters including the sale of the power business to Sawmill Capital (following which Shauna was seconded to Clyde Blowers for a period) and the sale of the CleanCut business to MI Swaco.

Having spent 6 years working in the Glasgow office of Maclays, Shauna moved to Aberdeen in 2003 to help open their office there. There she focused primarily on private equity work and in particular acting for 3i Group plc. Shauna’s experience includes:

  • The acquisition Food Partners, Buckingham Foods and Thomas Food Group by Duke Street (£100m)

  • The disposal of Macrae Food Group Limited (£30m+) and the disposal of Phillips Auctioneers (£80m)
  • The merger of Rigblast Group Limited, Fallsky Limited and Mach-Ten offshore Limited (£52m)
  • The flotation of Revus Energy AS on the Oslo Børs for 3i (NOK 1,155m; £98m)
  • The flotation of Petrofac on the London Stock Exchange for 3i (£742m)

Role at Clyde Blowers

Shauna joined Clyde Blowers in August 2006. Since joining the team she has advised on the acquisitions completed by Clyde Process Solutions plc, InterBulk Group plc, Clyde Bergemann Power Group Inc and Clyde Pumps and the recent disposal of Clyde Process Solutions plc to Schenck Process.

Shauna was also part of the team that led both the fund raising process for CBC II and the acquisitions of each of the portfolio assets, together with the follow on investments and joint ventures for each of the assets.

Shauna has responsibility for overseeing the legal affairs of the fund activities which includes working closely with the investment executives on the review, structure and completion of investments together with providing legal advice to the portfolio assets. Shauna is also the Compliance and Money Laundering officer. Shauna is an FSA Approved Person.

Qualifications

Shauna holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Glasgow and is dual qualified in both Scotland and England and Wales. She is also a Notary Public.
