Stewart trained with KPMG and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2004. He spent three and a half years in Audit with KPMG in Glasgow before moving into Transaction Services with KPMG in London. His TS experience covered a range of buy-side, sell-side and IPO advisory work for both corporate and private equity clients. Completed transactions included the listing of New Star Asset Management on the London Stock Exchange in 2007, the sale of Alexander Forbes International Risk Services to Lockton and Stone Point Capital in 2006 and the Towergate Parnership's acquisition of Paymentshield in 2006.
In 2007, Stewart joined Bank of Scotland Corporate’s Acquisition Finance team in London where he worked with private equity sponsors in assessing and structuring leveraged transactions across a number of sectors, including healthcare, investment management, waste management, electronics and packaging.
Stewart joined CBC in April 2009. His primary responsibility is to support the Investment Directors in overseeing the CBC II portfolio investments. He has played a significant role in a number of portfolio company transactions, including the merger of Maag Pump Systems and Automatik Plastics Machinery in May 2010, ClydeUnion’s acquisition of S&N Pumps in October 2010 and the refinancing of the Maag Group in December 2010. Stewart is also responsible for developing and managing CBC II’s portfolio company valuation process.
Stewart has a BSc (Hons) in Technology and Business Studies with Accounting from the University of Strathclyde and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
