DBS In Line for Landmark Australian Defence Work After BAE Systems Secures Key Contract
19th July 2018
Clyde Blowers Capital’s portfolio company, David Brown Santasalo (DBS), is delighted to officially confirm its support to BAE Systems (BAE) following BAE’s selection as the preferred tenderer for the Commonwealth of Australia’s SEA 5000 Future Frigate programme.
In January of this year, DBS signed an agreement to provide localised support to BAE on the transmission systems for its Future Frigate programme and following BAE’s recent confirmation as the preferred tenderer, the team at DBS is already working with BAE on what will be a landmark project to produce nine state of the art Future Frigates for the Royal Australian Navy.
The scope of the project will see the global industrial gear manufacturer and world leader in naval transmissions maximise the involvement of Australian industry in all phases of the project, creating 30 direct jobs in Australia and a further 60 in the supply chain.
CBC Investment Director, Stewart Macintosh, commented:
“The announcement of BAE as the winning tender for the Royal Australian Navy’s frigate programme is fantastic news.
It is a great example of British engineering continuing to be at the forefront of strategically critical international defence programmes and underlines DBS’s world-leading naval transmission technology.”
