Allan Dowie

Career History

Allan is a Certified Accountant (ACCA) and has an MBA (Strathclyde University) with over 20 years’ experience in financial and strategic roles across Financial Services, Manufacturing, Government and Energy & Utilities. During his career Allan has worked for Scottish Power, British Energy, LogicaCMG, KPMG and National Australia Bank. During this time he has been involved in Banking, M&A, Financial Governance, Joint Ventures, Strategic Growth Initiatives, System Implementation, Cost Management and Business Development. Allan has held a number of CFO, FD and Advisor roles operating at Board Level. He is also involved in the British Export Association. 

In 2007 Allan joined ClydeUnion Pumps as CFO. Through to divestment in December 2011, revenues grew from £70m from on location in Glasgow, to £400m and a presence in over 100 countries. During this time he was involved in driving forward the Growth Strategy and had direct responsibility for all of the back office functions. As CFO at ClydeUnion Pumps, Allan won Emerging Finance Director of the Year in 2011.

As CFO at Clyde Blowers, Allan is responsible for the financial reporting for Management and Fund related vehicles and the deployment of the Financial Operating & Governance Model into portfolio companies.  Allan is a member of the Fund Leadership Team, the Investment Committee and the Valuations Committee.
