After leaving university with an LLB (Hons) (University of Glasgow), Angela specialised in corporate law from the outset of her career training at Dickson Minto in Edinburgh and London where she also became a Notary Public. This was followed by two years with McClure Naismith and four years at Maclay Murray Spens, both in Glasgow. Angela was particularly focused on private equity and venture capital M&A work.
In private practice, Angela was involved in the Clyde Blowers’ sale of its power companies to Sawmill Capital in 2001 after which she joined Clyde Blowers. Whilst Angela’s emphasis for the first five years at Clyde Blowers was on M&A, her role also encompassed that of the traditional in-house lawyer.
She is now using that experience in her role as Portfolio Legal Director to advise Clyde Blowers’ portfolio companies on legal and compliance issues. Within that remit, Angela oversees the integration of new portfolio companies, addressing issues raised by due diligence and putting in place requisite compliance programmes. She also supports on any important disputes, litigations and major contracts.
