Dougie Hawkins

Career History

Dougie is a Chartered Accountant (ICAS - Institutes Gold Medal) and a member of the Charted Institute of Bankers in Scotland (Bilsland Prize, the top merit award).

He joined Bank of Scotland (“BoS”) in 1988 directly from high school. At BoS he spent 5 years in retail and small business banking and 7 years in leveraged finance, originating and structuring debt finance for the UK and European private equity markets.

Dougie then joined Royal Bank Development Capital, Royal Bank of Scotland’s (“RBS”) mid-market private equity business and in 2004, was promoted to Managing Director. His responsibilities covered the full spectrum of private equity activity from origination, execution, portfolio management to ultimate exit. Dougie also sat on RBS’ Corporate Markets Credit Committee, Corporate Markets Equity Investment Committee, the Equity Finance Cases Committee and the Equity Finance Monitoring Committee.

He left RBS in 2007 and started his own corporate finance consultancy before joining Clyde Blowers Capital in 2008, shortly after CBC’s acquisition of the Textron Fluid and Power Division.

Dougie’s responsibilities include managing CBC’s M&A Transaction activity including: - Co-ordination of transaction origination to identify, source and evaluate new investment opportunities, covers both new platform acquisitions and bolt on acquisition opportunities.  Dougie also has responsibility for oversight of the transaction execution process (other than in relation to legal matters) including project management, deal structuring, co-ordination of due diligence program, financing arrangements, executive incentivisation and internal reporting. He also plays a key role in the development of the transaction team and coordination of relationship management with the external advisory community. Dougie has direct portfolio responsibility for CBC’s investment in Cone Drive.
