Career History
In 2020, Bill Thomson returned to CBC where he previously spent over two decades creating a successful track record for the firm as a founding partner. He was responsible for the impressive expansion and development of Clyde Blowers in China, where he founded CBC’s Beijing office. Bill was instrumental in the success of previous Clyde Blowers’ investments; Clyde Bergemann, Clyde Materials Handling, Interbulk, Clean Cut and H-Fang.
Bill has an honours degree in mechanical engineering and worked for Diamond Power, Babcock Energy and Hunting Oilfield Services in various roles including Operations Director and Commercial Director before joining Clyde Blowers as Managing Director in 1992.
He is an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) gained for services to British Industry, was awarded an honorary master’s degree from London Metropolitan University and was also a Visiting Professor at Strathclyde University. Bill was a Director of the Department for International Trade (DIT) for 4 years and was also a Director and Vice President of the CBBC for more than 10 years.
