Gareth McColl

Career History

Prior to joining CBC in 2011, Gareth completed an MA in Economics at the University of Glasgow before going on to complete a Masters in Finance at the International University of Monaco. 

Gareth completed several internships at two CBC portfolio companies, Clyde Bergemann and Clyde Union, gaining experience in operations, project management, sales and marketing and business integration. As part of his post graduate studies Gareth completed a six-month internship at CBC providing support to the team across a number of transactions and projects.

Gareth joined CBC in April 2011 as an Investment Analyst and was promoted to Associate Director in 2014 and to Investment Director in 2017. Gareth has played an integral part in CBC’s transaction origination, execution, and portfolio management efforts. He worked closely with Cone Drive and oilfield services platform, Allrig where he was involved in shaping the strategic development of the company and transaction support. He was heavily involved in both platform acquisitions and project managed all subsequent bolt on transactions at Allrig. Gareth led the refinancing of Cone Drive in September 2015 which involved raising additional financing to fund the acquisition of H-Fang before successfully exiting the investment to the Timken Group in August 2018 for $245m. 

Gareth was promoted to Partner in April 2020 and is leading the firm’s investment efforts in deal sourcing/origination, evaluation and execution. Gareth is an FCA approved Senior Manager for the following functions at the firm, SMF 16, 17 & 27.
